How often am I supposed to feed Red tailed shark and Gold loach?
Q. I have unexpectedly recieved a young Red tailed shark, a gold loach, and a big container of shrimp pellets and I have no idea how often i am supposed to feed them or how much...please help me out The person who I recieved the fish from died...thats why Im asking online instead of asking them

A. You can feed them twice a day. Once in the morn and evening. I would drop 2 to 3 pellets in make sure both fish eat and your good.

What time of day should a red-tailed boa eat?
Q. I know that it is better to feed a ball python during the evening since they are nighttime feeders, but are there any special circumstances like this for a red-tailed boa?

A. Snakes in general are opportunistic, so will eat whenever you feed them. Do a little testing, see if it eats better in the morning, afternoon, or evening. If you're keeping this one warm enough, it shouldn't have much temp variation day to night becuase their environment doesn't usually. So see what is easiest for you and your snake. Most of their prey will be out around dusk and twilight, but that may not matter much to your captive bred snake.

How can I handle my red tailed boa?
Q. I recently bought a red tailed boa about 3 months old. I left him alone for the first few days, but now want to handle him daily. He's always hiding, so when I'm ready to handle him, should I pull him out of his hide, or should I just wait until he comes out?

A. I also got my red-tailed boa at the age of about 3 months and was told that they can be a bit nippy as with most young snakes. You have kept him in his cage for a few days which is good, so he's used to that now. I guess it's a little hard to explain but here goes. I was very nervouse about handling her as she's my first snake. She did hiss a lot. I took a stick with a rounded and smoothed end, slid it under her so she would sort of hook onto it and picked her up, brought her to the front of the cage and then slowly picked her up with my hands. Most times she was in her hide but i gently lifted it away. If you pick him up do it close to the top of the neck and dont give him a fright by sneaking up on him. Let him know you there… [cont.]
