Phonetics (from the Greek: φωνή, phōnē, "sound, voice", pronounced /fɵˈnɛtɨks/) is a branch of linguistics that comprises the study of the sounds of human speech. It is concerned with the physical properties of speech sounds (phones), and their physiological production, auditory perception, and neurophysiological status.

Phonetics was studied as early as 2500 years ago in ancient India, with Pāṇini's account of the place and manner of articulation of consonants in his 5th century BC treatise on Sanskrit. The major Indic alphabets today order their consonants according to Pāṇini's classification.

How do I transcribe Persian into the international phonetic alphabet?
Q. Is there a website or something that gives a list of the sounds in Persian as they correspond to Persian orthography and the IPA?

A. If, in speech, someone said "pack" for "back" it would be transcribed as a "devoiced" /b/ rather than /p/. From your question, it looks like you might be trying to translate from written Persian? This is more… [cont.]

How to do translate these phrases into the English phonetic sounding?
Q. These are: Please translate into English lettering. Thanks! 10 points for the one who post's the translation first. Dark Ones Legendary One Thank you.

A. Dark Ones = Hei An Yi Legendary One = Yi Ge Chuan Chi ('Ge' sounds like 'get' without the t) The issue here is that the translation of 'Ones' in 'Dark Ones' doesn't make sense unless it actually means the number 1.
