North Texas (also commonly called North Central Texas or Northeastern Texas) is a distinct cultural and geographic area forming the central-northeastern section of the U.S. state of Texas. North Texas is generally considered to include the area south of Oklahoma, east of Abilene, and north of Waco. North Texas, being more precisely the northern part of the eastern portion of Texas, does not include the Panhandle of Texas, despite the fact that it extends farther north. North Texas is centered upon the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, the largest metropolitan area in Texas. People in the Dallas and Fort Worth areas sometimes use the terms "Metroplex" and "North Texas" interchangeably. However, North Texas actually refers to a much larger area that includes many rural counties. From Wikipedia under the

I'm thinking and planning if it would be a good Idea to buy 1acre land and a house on that land and grow plants, to eat and survive. Does anyone here know how much it would cost to buy 1,2,10 cows, chickens, & pigs? Are they supposed to be cheap to buy cows, since it's in north Texas? Would having 1 acre be enough to raise 10 cows, plant fruits and vegetables? Asked by thundergravity - Fri Jan 30 20:15:05 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. That would be a great idea. What the local prices would be depends on when you buy your livestock and where you buy it. How people in the depression rode out those years depended largely on what their situation in life was. If they had a job (and many people still had jobs during the depression) they were fortunate. If they owned their own home, they wouldn't be forced out on the street. Many people bought day old milk from the dairies and day old bread from the bakers, because it was much cheaper. If they didn't have a job, they lived very much on a hand to mouth scenario - grew stuff in their gardens if they could, and learned 3,000 ways to cook beans and oatmeal. Ask that the original proof CD be submitted to you as part of the *contract*. Also, see if you can assign a friend with a laptop, empty external hard disk, and memory card reader so that the photos taken can be downloaded at the end of the event. If not, then you should state in the contract that the *original* digital files in RAW format are to be burned to CD, not weak JPEG thumbnail shots. Ask that all rights to the photos be totally released to you. State in the contract that 60% down payment will be made but the remaining balance will be given when the goods are received. You might look for a copy of " Plants for the Metroplex" or "Plants of the Metroplex" by Howard Garrett. It gives you alot of information on the right and wrong trees to plant in the DFW area.
